Useful information for people with allergies
Allergy information 2010
We have four large ‘restaurants’:
Majkens Matsalar serves southern Swedish fare such as potato pancakes with bacon, and hamburgers or fish with mashed potatoes.
We offer boiled potatoes with sauce for people with a dairy allergy. The hamburgers and fish are fine for people with a gluten allergy. Visitors allergic to egg can eat mashed or boiled potatoes with various accompaniments.
Tell our staff if you have any other allergies or intolerances and we will do our best to cook something specially for you.
Restaurant Linnea offers various home-made southern Swedish dishes with waiter service. The menu includes fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, all based around our southern Swedish province of Småland. Here we can arrange food for people allergic to dairy, gluten, soya and egg. If you have any other allergies, we will do our best to cook something for you too.
Kopparkrogen serves generous, ‘robust’ food. Ribs with home-made potato salad, chicken fillet or lasagne. People with dairy, egg, soya and gluten allergies can eat ribs or chicken fillet with sauce and some kind of potato.
Hamnmagasinet serves summery, home-made dishes that are easy to eat while visiting Pippi Longstocking. There is food here for people with dairy, egg, gluten and soya allergies.
The School Street Grill and Hot-Dog Stand serve hot-dogs. Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
Keep an eye out at our cafés for old-fashioned coconut ‘snowballs’ and chocolate macaroons, which are gluten free. Also, the lemon cake is sugar free. Seacrow Island Café offers a wide range of FREE-FROM cakes and buns, as well as gluten-free bread for sandwiches. Ask our staff for further information.
All soft ice-cream is low lactose.
Ice-cream outlets selling scoop ice-cream also offer Tofuline frozen soya desserts.
We do not prepare any food that contains nuts, although there are nuts in some of the pastries.
We do not sell ice-cream sprinkles that contain nuts as they could easily get mixed in with other kinds of sprinkles. We don’t sell nougat sauce for the same reason.
Allergy lists and ingredients lists are available for the range of food we sell – just ask at Information inside the entrance – and at all eateries selling food, cakes and ice-cream. Please ask a member of staff if you wish to look at them for more detailed information.
Food for visitors who have special dietary requirements, for whatever reason, is something we want to develop and be even better at serving here at Astrid Lindgren’s World. We would therefore be grateful if you have any tips or ideas! Please contact me if you do.
Also, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Yours sincerely,
Wisam Salim
